This Privacy Policy ("Policy") describes how Bodha AI Labs Pvt. Ltd. ("Bodha", "we", "us", or "our"), a company incorporated under the laws of India, collects, uses, discloses, stores, and protects personal information when you download, access, or use the Snap Flora mobile application, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, together with any related websites, features, and services (collectively, the "Services" or the "App").
Snap Flora helps you identify plants, mushrooms, and insects from photos, diagnose plant health, build a personal garden, and set care reminders. By creating an account, downloading the App, or otherwise using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy. If you do not agree with any part of this Policy, please do not use the Services.
1. Who We Are
Snap Flora is a product of Bodha AI Labs Pvt. Ltd., the parent company operating at bodhalabs.ai. For the purposes of applicable data protection laws (including the EU General Data Protection Regulation, the UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act, and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023), Bodha AI Labs Pvt. Ltd. is the data controller for the personal information processed through Snap Flora.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Account & Profile Data: When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address, profile photo, and a unique provider identifier. You may also set or edit a display name and add nicknames to your plants.
- Photos & Images: The photos you capture with the camera or select from your gallery to identify plants, mushrooms, or insects, or to run a health diagnosis. These images, together with any crop you apply, are central to providing the Services.
- Garden & Activity Content: Plants and collections you save, diagnoses you run, your scan history, plant nicknames, and the reminders you create (including type, schedule, and any notes you add).
- Communications & Feedback: Messages you send to support, ratings or feedback you submit (such as the "Did this answer your question?" responses in our Help Center), and any other content you choose to share with us.
2.2 Information We Collect Automatically
- Device & Technical Data: Device model, operating system and version, app version, language and region settings, time zone, unique device or installation identifiers, and crash and diagnostic logs.
- Usage & Analytics Data: Features used, scans and diagnoses performed, screens viewed, and event-level telemetry that helps us understand how the App is used and improve it.
- Approximate Location: We may infer an approximate location (for example, country or region) from your IP address or device settings to localize content, language, and units. Snap Flora does not require or continuously track your precise GPS location to provide its core features.
2.3 Information We Receive From Third Parties
- Authentication providers (Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In) provide us your name, email address, and a unique provider identifier when you choose to sign in using them. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email" feature, we receive a private relay email address instead of your personal one.
- App Stores (Apple App Store, Google Play Store) provide us your subscription and purchase status, transaction identifiers, and renewal or cancellation events. Apple and Google process your payment; we do not receive your full payment card details.
- Identification & diagnosis providers return the results (such as candidate species, common names, confidence scores, family and genus, edibility notes, and plant-health or disease information) generated from the photos you submit.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information for the following purposes and on the following legal bases:
- To provide the Services — authenticating your account, running plant, mushroom, and insect identification and plant-health diagnosis, returning results, and syncing your garden, collections, scan history, and reminders across sessions. (Legal basis: performance of a contract.)
- To deliver reminders and notifications — scheduling and sending the care, watering, medicine, and other reminders you set up. (Legal basis: performance of a contract; consent.)
- To manage subscriptions — verifying your Snap Flora Premium status, applying free-plan scan limits, and showing the appropriate features. (Legal basis: performance of a contract.)
- To improve and develop the Services — analyzing usage, debugging, measuring performance, and improving the accuracy and quality of identification, diagnosis, and care content. Where we use your content for improvement, we seek to use de-identified or aggregated data wherever practicable. (Legal basis: legitimate interests.)
- To maintain security and prevent abuse — detecting, preventing, and responding to fraud, abuse, and security incidents. (Legal basis: legitimate interests; legal obligation.)
- To communicate with you — responding to support requests and sending service-related messages. (Legal basis: performance of a contract; legitimate interests.)
- To comply with law — meeting our legal, tax, and regulatory obligations. (Legal basis: legal obligation.)
We do not sell your personal information.
4. How We Share Your Information
We share personal information only in the limited circumstances described below:
- Service providers & sub-processors who process data on our behalf, including cloud hosting and storage, plant/mushroom/insect identification and plant-health diagnosis providers, authentication providers, push-notification delivery, and analytics and crash-reporting tools. These providers are bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations and may only use the data to perform services for us.
- App Stores (Apple, Google) for processing subscriptions and in-app purchases.
- Legal & safety — where required to comply with applicable law, legal process, or a lawful government request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Bodha, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.
5. International Data Transfers
Bodha is based in India, and our service providers may process data in India and other countries. Where we transfer personal information across borders, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (or equivalent mechanisms) to ensure your information receives an adequate level of protection.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services. Your garden, collections, scan history, and reminders remain available until you delete them or delete your account. Photos submitted for identification or diagnosis are retained to power your scan history and to provide the Services, and may be processed transiently by our identification providers to return results.
When you delete your account from within the App, your account and associated personal data are permanently removed. Account deletion is irreversible. Residual copies may persist in routine backups for a limited period before being overwritten, and we may retain limited information where required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
7. Cookies & Similar Technologies
The Snap Flora mobile app does not rely on advertising cookies. We and our service providers use mobile SDKs and similar technologies (for example, for analytics, crash reporting, and authentication) that may store identifiers on your device to operate and improve the Services. You can reset advertising identifiers and adjust tracking permissions through your device settings.
8. Camera, Photos & Mobile Permissions
Snap Flora requests certain device permissions to function. You can grant or revoke these at any time in your device settings; revoking a permission may disable related features.
- Camera: to capture photos of plants, mushrooms, and insects for identification and diagnosis.
- Photo Library: to let you select an existing photo to scan instead of using the live camera.
- Notifications: to deliver the care and treatment reminders you schedule.
- Exact Alarms (Android 13+): to fire reminders at the precise minute you choose.
9. Data Security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and secure cloud infrastructure. Your account, garden, scan history, and reminders are stored securely and tied to your signed-in account. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information:
- The right to access the personal information we hold about you.
- The right to correct inaccurate or incomplete information (you can edit your display name and plant nicknames directly in the App).
- The right to delete your information — you can delete individual scans, reminders, and collections in the App, or delete your entire account from the Profile screen.
- The right to data portability, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
To exercise these rights, use the in-app controls or contact us at support@bodhalabs.ai. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law. If you are in the EEA, UK, or India, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (such as the Data Protection Board of India).
California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and share it, the right to request deletion or correction of your personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA.
11. Third-Party Services & Links
Snap Flora relies on third-party services including Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In, the Apple App Store, the Google Play Store, and our identification and diagnosis providers. Your use of those services is subject to their own privacy policies and terms. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties.
12. Children's Privacy
Snap Flora is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction, such as 16 in parts of the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
13. Marketing & Notifications
Care reminders and treatment notifications are functional parts of the Services that you choose to set up. We may also send you service-related communications. We will only send promotional messages where permitted by law or with your consent, and you can opt out of marketing communications at any time without affecting your use of the Services.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by other appropriate means and update the "Last Updated" date above. Your continued use of the Services after the changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
